Looking back on 2026, and forward to 2027

An update from John, including some personal news

The 2026 Spring Harvest Holidays season finished on Monday 5th October with a beautiful moment as our baton, normally passed from speaker to speaker, was passed to the Église Evangelique de Challans de Cote Lumiere, the church who meet each Sunday at Le Pas Opton. It was great having them with us on site throughout the season, meeting in a marquee on the field. As they return to meeting in the bar, they pick up the baton and continue to pray for the site, our team, and God’s work through this amazing place.

It has been a fantastic season. 5204 people have stayed with us, 1953 of these being children and young people who have attended the children and youth programmes. Many have stayed more than one week, some coming back more than once. The total of our weekly numbers on site is 8434. Your feedback has been encouraging, with you giving us an average recommendation score of 9.3 out of 10. It has been amazing reading the testimonies, the answered prayers, and to hear what God has been doing. He continues to work in the lives of our guests at LPO in so many ways.

Animateur and Bénévole Recruitment is Open for the 2027 season

We are so grateful for all the work our team has put into making the season a success. Lou Bentley, our Volunteer Manager says:

“Without our incredible volunteer team we would not be able to deliver the amazing ministry and holidays that define a Spring Harvest Holiday at Le Pas Opton. Our guests think the same, and fill our guest surveys with comments and thanks for all that our team do. Finding the best team and the best fit for the individual is a key part of my role and I’d love to hear from you if you’d like to join the blue army in 2027.”

Before we’d even closed the season Lou had launched the hunt for next year's amazing team! If you’d like to be an Animateur delivering spiritual programmes and entertainments, or a Bénévole filling one of the vital roles needed to set up, run and pack down the site, then visit Spring Harvest Holidays | Volunteering to find out more and to apply.

Bookings Launch, Wednesday 21st October

We’re all set to launch bookings earlier this year and are excited to announce that we’ve frozen our prices: if you book by 30th November, you will pay according to 2026 prices! If you have pre-booked, we will contact you ahead of the 21st to confirm your booking, and you will be able to benefit from this prize freeze! Our updated 2027 prices will come into effect on 1st December. Booking earlier also means that you can secure your ferry crossing at the best possible prices. So don’t wait, book early, and as always, our Guest Service team are on hand to help you plan an amazing holiday with us.

Ambassador Network FOR EMAIL ONLY

Thank you for all you do to spread the word and encourage people to holiday with us. We have increased our marketing to keep spreading the word wider. You may have noticed an article about SHH/LPO in the October Edition of Christianity Magazine. With its 30,000 circulation, many more will hear of our work because of the recommendation of editor Sam sharing his LPO experiences when he joined us this summer. There are no better people to promote SHH/LPO than you, our guests and ambassadors. You can share directly to your church; you can post on your social network group and promote to all the other places where you are serving God. If you need any help with material to promote, including social media content, do get in touch. We’d certainly ask that you particularly promote the price freeze message so that people don’t miss out.

Personal news

After three busy and fun packed seasons I am leaving my role with Spring Harvest Holidays and the Association Le Pas Opton in December. It has been a difficult decision to make but one that is right for me at this point. I shall miss the time I get to spend at LPO and the people I have had the pleasure of getting to know. Whether a staff member, team member or guest, thank you for your friendship and support. LPO will always have a special place in my heart, and I shall continue to pray for God’s blessing on this truly awesome ministry.

May God richly bless you,

John
